Spatial patterns in U.S. hard red winter wheat quality

چکیده
Hard red winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L.; HRWW) is broadly grown in Great Plains and northwestern states the United States. Knowing how quality characteristics are correlated across space may help buyers locate grain elevators that have with they need. The objective of this study was to determine spatial pattern factors HRWW. Mixed effects regression modeling used estimate mean for each location. These estimates then reported geospatial maps illustrate factors. Expected local had strong correlation over a large distance. Residuals show substantial correlation, which suggests having survey year provides new information buyers. Geospatial clearly locations HRWW growing region primary interest seek.

Journal of Plant Registrations, Vol. 3, No. 1, January 2009 51 W heat streak mosaic virus (WSMV) is one of the most common, and devastating, diseases impacting wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) production in the western Great Plains of North America. Annual production losses of 5% have been estimated, although severe local WSMV infection can result in complete crop failure (French and Stenger, Regis...
متن کاملComparison of bloat potential between a variety of soft-red versus a variety of hard-red winter wheat forage.
Some aspects of wheat pasture bloat have been researched extensively, but few studies have evaluated the effect of wheat type or variety on bloat. Eight Gelbvieh x Angus ruminally cannulated heifers (515 +/- 49 kg of BW) and 48 Angus heifers (238 +/- 12 kg of BW) grazed 1-ha pastures of hard-red or soft-red winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) to evaluate the effect of wheat variety on bloat pot...
متن کاملClustering of Environments of Southern Soft Red Winter Wheat Region for Milling and Baking Quality Attributes.
Division of regional nursery test sites into homogenous subregions contributes to more efficient evaluation and better differentiation of cultivars. Data from the Uniform Southern Soft Red Winter Wheat Nursery (USSRWWN) were analyzed to group testing sites into relatively homogenous subregions for milling and baking quality (MBQ) attributes. Environmental effects due to years accounted for over...
